Quick & Easy Knit: The Big Easy Hat FREE Knitting Pattern

Quick and easy weekend or one day project.

Sizes: One size/Adult

Yarn: Aran approx. 100g/225m

Needles:

     - 5 mm, 40cm or 80cm circular cable needles for magic loop knitting

     - 6 mm, 40cm + DPNs or 80cm circular cable needles for magic loop knitting

Gauge: 15st x 20 rows = 10 x 10 cm stocking stitch

Misc: 8 stitch markers, scissors, darning needle

Skill requirements: Cast on, Knit, Purl, Knit 2 together

Þ Cast On  

¨ Using 5mm needles, cast on 88 stitches recommended stretchy cast on method

 Þ Rib  

¨ Work 2x2 rib until work measures 10cm

 Þ Main Part  

¨ Switch to 6 mm needles and knit until work measures 20cm

 Þ Crown

¨ (K11, place marker) x 8

¨ Decrease round: Knit up to 2 sts before marker, K2tog

¨ Knit round: knit all stitches

¨ Repeat decrease round and knit round until 16 stitches remain

 Þ Finish

¨ Cut the working yarn, leaving a 20cm tail. Thread the working yarn onto a tapestry/darning needle and thread the stitches onto it. Pull tight and weave in all the ends.

 

I used 'reclaimed' yarn on this, so the texture was uneven.
