How to knit a crown 1

This is a crown starting with a K7, K2tog decrease. From the Cotton Light Headsock hat pattern

Choose to start your crown from the appropriate place according to your pattern.
I.e., if the pattern states to K7, K2tog, start at K7, K2tog on the list and knit every other row/round.

Decreasing for a hat crown

Switch to double pointed needles. Place Marker

*K10, K2tog. Repeat from * to marker

Knit every other row/round.

*K9, K2tog. Repeat from * to marker
*K8, K2tog. Repeat from * to marker
*K7, K2tog. Repeat from * to marker
*K6, K2tog. Repeat from * to marker
*K5, K2tog. Repeat from * to marker
*K4, K2tog. Repeat from * to marker
*K3, K2tog. Repeat from * to marker
*K2, K2tog. Repeat from * to marker
*K1, K2tog. Repeat from * to marker
K2tog until there are 6/8/10 stitches left.

Cut yarn, leaving a 25/30cm tail.

Thread the loose end onto a darning/tapestry needle.

Beginning with the stitch you would knit, if you were to knit, thread the tail through all the stitches and remove the knitting needles.

Pull the tail tight to close up the hole.

Sew through to the inside of the hat and sew/weave in the loose end.

K2tog until there are 6/8/10 left on the needles. Cut yarn and thread the loose end onto a darning/tapestry needle. Beginning with the stitch you would knit, (the stitch immediately to the left of the working yarn), thread the tail through all the stitches and remove the knitting needles.
